PART-TIME SEWING INSTRUCTOR (Kids & Adults)

Viridian Art is looking for an enthusiastic, dependable Lead Sewing Instructor to teach engaging curriculum classes at a both our studio locations. This is a part-time position that’s perfect for someone who loves working with children, enjoys being creative, and can confidently lead small group classes.

Full Job Description

This position in for our WOODLAND HILLS and AGOURA HILLS STUDIOS :

WOODLAND HILLS: THURSDAYS: 4:00-6:30pm & TUESDAYS: 5:00-7:30pm

AGOURA HILLS STUDIO: MONDAYS: 4:15- 6:45pm

Viridian Art is seeking an experienced sewing instructor to teach afternoon and/or evening classes, private lessons and parties.

We are seeking an outgoing and patient sewing teacher to teach small group, machine-based sewing classes. Currently, our classes meet once a week. We offer machine sewing programs for both kids and adults.

You will lead late afternoon classes (kids 9+/teens) and evening adult classes. We would also love to add one time project workshops when possible. This position is perfect for a freelance designer or passionate maker looking for regular part-time hours in a highly creative environment. We will provide a trained assistant once classes fill up.

Responsibilities:

• Lead All-Ages Classes: Deliver engaging, hands-on curriculum and instruction for afternoon kids programs and evening adult programs and workshops.

• Teach Machine Fundamentals: Train students on sewing machine anatomy, winding bobbins, threading, proper safety protocols, and troubleshooting minor jams.

• Guide Creative Projects: Help students step-by-step through projects, from cutting and pinning fabric to navigating straight seams, curves, and simple closures.

• Manage the Classroom: Keep a lively classroom organized, keeping younger students focused and adult students supported.

• Studio Maintenance: Ensure the sewing machines and workspaces are left clean, safe, and ready for the next class.

Requirements:

• Sewing Experience: Min 2+ years of strong, practical sewing experience with standard domestic or industrial machines.

• Teaching Experience: Prior experience working with children & adults in a teaching, mentoring, or camp setting is highly preferred.

• Machine Savvy: Comfortable troubleshooting basic machine issues (tension, needles, thread tangles) on the fly.

• Superpower Skills: Extreme patience, strong communication, and an encouraging personality that can make sewing less intimidating for beginners.

• Availability: Must be reliably available for afternoon and evening shifts a few times a week.

We're looking for a creative, organized, and self-motivated Studio Coordinator & Marketing Assistant to join our team!

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of creative projects, marketing, and behind-the-scenes business operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, takes initiative, and enjoys finding ways to make things run more smoothly.

You'll play an important role in keeping our studios organized, supporting our marketing efforts, and helping our business continue to grow.

What You'll Do

Studio Administration & Operations

• Assist with billing, invoicing, and payment tracking.

• Support day-to-day administrative tasks across both studio locations.

• Help develop and implement organized systems, procedures, and workflows.

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline operations.

Provide general administrative support to the studio management team.

Marketing & Creative Content

• Help design eye-catching graphics, flyers, and promotional materials using Canva.

• Create, plan, and schedule engaging social media content.

• Assist with marketing campaigns, promotions, and email newsletters.

• Write and publish blog posts, announcements, and other digital content.

• Help maintain a consistent and recognizable Viridian Art brand.

Website & Digital Management

• Update website content, class information, images, and promotions.

• Assist with general website maintenance and improvements.

• Help keep our online information accurate, organized, and up to date.

What We're Looking For

• Proficiency in Canva and a good eye for graphic design.

• Experience creating and managing social media content.

• Strong writing and communication skills.

• Familiarity with website editing and content management.

• Basic knowledge of billing, invoicing, and administrative procedures.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• A proactive, resourceful attitude with the ability to work independently.

• Reliable transportation and the ability to work at both studio locations.

Bonus Skills (Not Required)

• Experience with Wix, Mailchimp, or social media scheduling tools.

• Photography, video editing, or Instagram Reels creation.

• Experience working in a creative studio, small business, or educational environment.

• Familiarity with customer management or registration software.
